Elementary School Activities

Cloud in a Bottle

Grades 3-6

Students will create the conditions required to form a cloud.

Coloring Page

Grades K-2

Students will color images of space and space technology.

Science of Color

Grades 2-8

Students will demonstrate how light is reflected or absorbed when passing through color filters.

Space Junk

Grades K-12

Students will better understand the impact Space Junk can have on our everyday lives. Students will also have the chance to act out Newton’s Laws of Motion by pretending to be Space Junk orbiting Earth.

Rocket Exploration

Grades K-12

Students will experiment with various household materials to create a chemical reaction that causes their model of a rocket to launch towards Earth’s atmosphere.

Thermal Protection System (ES)

Grades 3-5

Engineers in training will learn how heat transfers through conduction, convection and radiation by designing and building a thermal protection system for a space craft. Engineers will work within design and budget parameters for their heat shield to protect their “sensors” or the chocolate from melting.

Tower of Power

Grades 3-12

Students will use the engineering design process to engineer a tower made of index cards to hold an object.

Universe Slime

Grades K-5

Students will learn facts about our expanding universe while engaging in a hands-on activity.

Word Search

Grades 2-12

Students will learn terms used in the Space Force while completing a word search puzzle.

Middle School Activities

Cloud in a Bottle

Grades 3-6

Students will create the conditions required to form a cloud.

Cyber Ciphers

Grades 5-8

Students will decipher encrypted messages while learning about computer science opportunities in the US Air Force and Space Force.

Model Satellite

Grades 5-8

Students will cut out and build a paper model satellite. The Defense Satellite Communications System (DSCS) is a United States Space Force satellite constellation that provides the United States with military communications to support globally distributed military users.

Rocket Exploration

Grades K-12

Students will experiment with various household materials to create a chemical reaction that causes their model of a rocket to launch towards Earth’s atmosphere.

Thermal Protection System (MS)

Grades 5-8

Engineers in training will learn how heat transfers through conduction, convection and radiation by designing and building a thermal protection system to protect a space craft. Engineers will work within design and budget parameters for their heat shield to protect their “Astronaut” or the glue from melting.

Tower of Power

Grades 3-12

Students will use the engineering design process to engineer a tower made of index cards to hold an object.

Word Search

Grades 2-12

Students will learn terms used in the Space Force while completing a word search puzzle.

High School Activities

Crossword Puzzle

Grades 9-12

Students will use the clues to solve a Space Force themed crossword puzzle.

Rocket Exploration

Grades K-12

Students will experiment with various household materials to create a chemical reaction that causes their model of a rocket to launch towards Earth’s atmosphere.

Space Junk

Grades K-12

Students will better understand the impact Space Junk can have on our everyday lives. Students will also have the chance to act out Newton’s Laws of Motion by pretending to be Space Junk orbiting Earth.

Thermal Protection System (HS)

Grades 8-12

Engineers in training will learn how heat transfers through conduction, convection and radiation by designing and building heat tiles and ablative systems for a space craft. Engineers will work within design and budget parameters for their ablative heat shield to protect their “Eggstronaut”.

Word Search

Grades 2-12

Students will learn terms used in the Space Force while completing a word search puzzle.
